Voodoo Vixen Mila Cardigan

I'm excited to share a few pics of my new Voodoo Vixen cardigan today, and it's also a sneak preview of my latest outfit shoot.  I had to take advantage of the snowy hills,  it might be the only snow we get this winter.

I'm still on my 100 day spending ban, so I'm going to swiftly point out that no cardigans have been purchased since the ban - I was actually lucky enough to win this cardigan from a prize draw that vintage and pinup inspired clothing brand Voodoo Vixen ran on Twitter!  I've admired their dresses from afar from some time, as I know they're particularly popular with bloggers in sunnier climates, like California and Australia.

I was asked to choose any cardigan from their wonderful range as my prize, and it was quite a challenge to pick one.  I tried to think about what would fit into my existing wardrobe and what I would get the most wear from.  In the end, I chose the Mila cardigan, in chic black with white embroidered detail and a keyhole closure with a bow.

I'm impressed with the quality, and the fit is true to size.  My measurements are an inch or so bigger on the bust than the medium on their size chart, but as it's a knit, there's a bit of stretch and it doesn't gape.  There's also a small collar on the cardigan but you can't really see it very well in the photographs.

Do you own any Voodoo Vixen cardigans?  I'll leave you with a larking about photo, because I wouldn't want you to think that this blogging is too serious!

  1. You've had a good run of luck recently - and that's a really good win. It suits you.

I make my own woollies. I'm a slow knitter, but as each garment lasts for years that doesn't matter. I doubt I'll run out of knitwear any time soon...

  2. Lucky Lady! I adore that cardigan. And how you've styled these photos. Really these could be out of a magazine.

    1. There will be more of the hat in the next outfit post, it's certainly been a winner this week in keeping me cosy! And yes, it will be great to see what 1st Feb brings! At least I'm more confident now that if I'm a medium in their cardi, a medium dress should probably be fine too x

  4. I have hesitated to buy anything from Voodoo Vixen even though I have drooled over many items because my measurements just don't fit with any of their sizes so I didn't want to take the risk.

    1. It's always a risk ordering by post/internet isn't it? Maybe if a shop near you stocks the brand you could try it on first, that's usually how I try out a new brand, but sometimes I have to wait until I make a trip to London or similar where they stock the brand!

    2. Are you broadwaisted like me? (I detest the phrase 'vintage figure', it implies that those of us who aren't hourglass aren't good enough - and that figure wasn't on trend in the 20s/60s anyhow!)

  5. Larking about photos! Yay!
I actually really like this. I haven't been feeling repro brands too much lately, but I'd like to find some fun cardigans, and I love all the different embroidered styles that they have. This looks fab on you - the red skirt brightens it up, and I love seeing polka dot tights anywhere, any time.
Oh, and you made my day with your comment on my last post. I feel like I just won the internet. ;)
    Cheers,

  6. Very cute cardigan, the little embroidered bird is lovely. And a freebie, so even better! It looks great with the bright skirt, and you look fabulous having fun in the snow! xxx

  7. That is such a pretty cardigan! I love the understated elegance + cuteness + old school vibe that the simple B&W silhouettes of the birds lend it. Needless to say, this is going on my wishlist right away! :)

  8. I love your new cardigan! It's adorable! I love the bird embroidery, the tie neck! and how awesome that it comes with a collar! <3 I am envious*, in a good way, of all the contests you win! I always enter whenever I see them pop up on facebook but haven't won one yet... fingers crossed for one day! I haven't tried any of Voodoo Vixen's sweaters yet... I have a few of Rock Steadys but have told myself I will buy no more from them because they tend to fit me much too long in the arms and too small in the bust with lots of gapping. Maybe one of these days I will give VV a shot ;)
